MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY

MCS has no universally accepted definition, but is generally described as an acquired hypersensitivity to a variety of chemicals in the environment (perfumes, detergents, solvents, pesticides, fumes, paints, etc.).

Symptoms commi (1)
Headache, dizziness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating (“brain fog”)
Irritation of mucous membranes (eyes, nose, throat)
Nausea, muscle pain, tachycardia, dyspnea
Reactive anxiety or depression

Etiological hypotheses (2)
There is no scientific consensus on the cause of MCS. The main hypotheses include:
Central nervous system dysfunction, with a form of “central sensitization” similar to fibromyalgia.
Alterations in oxidative metabolism or hepatic detoxification mechanisms (e.g., variants in CYP450 or GST genes).
Psychoneuroimmunological component, with amplified response to environmental stimuli.

Differential diagnosis
It is essential to rule out other conditions with similar symptoms, such as:
Allergies or asthma
Autoimmune diseases
Anxiety or somatoform disorders
Intoxication or specific work exposures

Treatment and management
There is no single, recognized therapy. The most commonly used approaches include:
Reducing exposure to triggers (use of “fragrance-free” materials and products).
Psychological and cognitive-behavioral support to reduce anxiety associated with exposures.
Supportive treatments for symptoms (vitamins, antioxidants, physiotherapy).

If the topic is of interest I point out the book “Total Sensitivity” by Loris Pasinato. If you think you suffer from this condition I point out the site of the association “MCS recognition” where you can find a list of professionals who know about the condition. You can also donate 5×1000 to the association.

When you suffer from this condition, you need to find suitable products that do not contain “irritating” chemicals. I therefore recommend household cleaning products and cosmetics from Verdevero I have been using for more than 1 year now. Verdevero products are eco-friendly: respectful of our skin and the environment. We did an INTERESTING live broadcast where Fabrizio explained the products in detail. You can review it on Youtube or listen again on Spotify o Apple Podcast. All our live broadcasts are always saved on these channels.

We also have discount codes for purchasing Verdevero products:
LIVEBETTER20 discount 20% for people who have never purchased from Verdevero (valid until 10/31/25)
LIVEBETTER10 discount 10% for those who are already Verdevero customers (valid until 12/31/25)
Both valid only on orders of at least €49
Discounts can be combined with any promotions already on the site

I would like to mention a BEAUTIFUL initiative of Verdevero: when you have collected 4 liter jerry cans, they come and pick them up for FREE. The canisters are then washed, sanitized and reused. Buying a 4-liter can instead of 4 1-liter bottles saves 41% of plastic!!!

I hope this insight can be helpful for you to live better
